More than 100 lucky American Express Card members got shot through the heart with [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien] tonight prior to the band's concert at the A[Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien].
As part of a new advertising campaign showcasing the role American
Express plays in providing consumers with unique access to services and
experiences, some 120 card members got to watch the band's sound check.
A few even got to meet the man himself and have their pictures taken
with him. The Post's Dave McGinn attended the event:
3:40 p.m. On the streetcar headed to the ACC. Oh, oh, I'm halfway there.

4:00 Enter the Platinum Lounge, a swanky bar inside the ACC. The white wine
and Caesars are a-flowing. Most of the people in attendance are neatly
dressed and middle-aged. One woman, however, making rockers everywhere
proud, is sporting double denim — jeans and a jean jacket with a Bon
Jovi logo from the 1980s on the back. It. Is. Awesome.

4:10 Interview with David Barnes, vice-president of communications at
American Express. Barnes' rock cred: he once slept on Johnny Rotten's
floor in 1976. Why the decision to offer card members experiences like
this one? "Those kind of added value, extra services really resonate

4:24 Steve Anthony from [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien],
acting as emcee, takes up a microphone and addresses the audience. "It
is my absolute pleasure to welcome you to this Bon Jovi thing that
other people can't get at," he says. Mention of "this Bon Jovi thing"
elicits mild applause from the crowd.

4:38 I consider
asking people in the crowd to complete the sentence "Your love is like
…" but the idea scares me. So I chicken out and head to one of many
veggie platters around the room.

4:51 The crowd lines up, has their drinks confiscated, and is led into the ACC concert bowl.

4:59 As the crowd has crammed itself as close to the stage as possible, there is utter silence.

5:04 Still waiting for the band. A dude who looks to be in his mid-forties
sporting a mean, mean mullet and a 'stache to match is sitting off to
the side tapping a pack of cigarettes against his lips, presumably
aching for a butt break.

5:11 More than 10 minutes late
for the scheduled sound check, it appears Bon Jovi gives punctuality a
bad name, although the crowd seems pretty Bon Jovial about having to
wait.

5:12 Bon Jovi appears onstage in all his ruggedly handsome glory. Every woman in the crowd simultaneously sighs, "Oh my God."

5:15 When Bon Jovi announces the band's first song will be [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien]
off their album Slippery When Wet, a bald man in the crowd says "cool"
the way 10-year-olds do upon first encountering Star Wars.

5:17 As the band rocks out, the audience begins doing some serious
head-bopping. Then, as the band launches in to a cover of the Beatles'
"Birthday," it's Bon Jovi's time for head-bopping, because when the
chorus hits he lets it rip. After the song is finished, a woman in the
audience says to Bon Jovi, "This is my 100th show!" To which Mr. Jovi
replies jokingly, "You need a life."

5:50 Before a few people in the crowd get to go backstage and meet Bon Jovi while the
rest head back to the Platinum Lounge for more pre-concert partying or
maybe lie down on a bed of roses, the band launches in to one more song
to cap a seven song set. Then, the song over, Bon Jovi thanks the crowd
for coming and says he hopes everyone enjoyed the experience. "It WAS
an experience," yells one woman.
