By Heather Warlick Staff Writer I touched Jon Bon Jovi. That's right. The Ford Center was packed with 16,000 Bon Jovi fans Tuesday night as the rocker lit the venue in a blaze of glory and not only did I touch him, he touched me, too. The rock and roll legend made his way into the audience during his Oklahoma City stop on his Lost Highway tour where dozens of like-minded fans groped him and he obligingly groped back.
Daughtry, living the American rock and roll dream, opened the show, proving that he was more than just an "American Idol" alum. The up-and-coming star sang his heart out to his break-out top 40 hits "Home" and "Over You" delivering a stand-out warm-up act for the superstar.
Then Bon Jovi stormed the stage with his tour theme song. He proceeded to belt out hit after hit including classics and new tunes like "(You want to) Make a memory," from an audience point of view perched on a ledge of the 115 section of the Ford Center.
The rocker sang for two hours bringing the audience to near-hysterics with "Livin' on a Prayer," "You Give Love a Bad Name," "Who Says You Can't Go Home," "Summertime," "I¹ll Be There For You," "It¹s My Life," and "Have a Nice Day."
His stage set was in-the-round and Bon Jovi played to every angle, working the crowd in true rock fashion. Still looking as amazing as ever, his presence was electrifying. He sounded just as good as he did in the 1980's when he left his initials on rock and roll history, if not better.
Overall, it was an amazing concert experience. He didn't need high-tech staging, pyrotechnics or a team of engineers tinkering with his vocals. He delivered a performance worthy of his established rock and roll reputation - one that I would relive anytime. Thanks for the memories, Jon. |
